About Us
Ubiquigent was co-founded with Professor Sir Philip Cohen’s Protein Ubiquitylation Unit (PUU), part of the Scottish Institute for Cell Signalling based at the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK. With our research and product development laboratories located adjacent to and working in close collaboration with Sir Philip Cohen's institute and other world class ubiquitin research groups, Ubiquigent is developing cutting edge reagents, kits and drug discovery services for the research community that will help investigators unravel the complexity of and pursue new therapeutic target opportunities within the Ubiquitin Proteasome Pathway (UPP).
Through our interaction with Sir Philip Cohen - who is also the Director of the Medical Research Council's Protein Phosphorylation Unit - Ubiquigent will also support researchers studying the critical interaction of the UPP with cellular kinase signaling pathways. Over the past fifteen years kinases have been the focus of many drug discovery companies and Ubiquigent anticipates that as the research community further elucidates the mechanisms and pathways of the UPP the opportunity for drug development in this space will increase. Indeed many UPP proteins are coming to light as potential targets across key therapeutic areas. Ubiquigent is dedicated to developing assays, kits and services to support the rapidly growing academic and drug discovery interests in this field.
Ubiquigent’s approach to product development is outward looking and collaborative in nature; initially exemplified by our close collaboration with the Protein Ubiquitylation Unit. We are also reaching out to and working collaboratively with a number of other leading ubiquitin research laboratories across the world.
