Head of Business Development

In response to the growth of the business, Ubiquigent is now seeking to appoint a full time Head of Business Development (HoBD).  The role, reporting to the CEO,  will be a leadership role within the Company in which the individual will leverage their combined scientific and commercial expertise to lead the sales, account management/technical support and marketing functions of the Company.  The HoBD will work in conjunction with the CEO and CSO with a primary objective to increase revenue from the Drug Discovery Screening Platform but will also seek opportunities for larger more strategic partnerships and agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and own the sales, marketing and account management/technical support functions with the Company to achieve agreed financial targets.
  • Proactively engage with existing customers and partners and the wider the market to identify new opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Leverage and further develop a through the in-depth understanding of the market, identify new opportunities and markets for the application of the Company’s capabilities including proposals for the development of commercial offerings.
  • Identify and monitor competitive threats to the business and propose appropriate actions as required.
  • Foster a team-based culture with the scientific team to support commercial activities to include agreed positioning strategies for service and product offerings.
  • Develop and maintain technical and commercial awareness of the capabilities and use of all of the Company’s capabilities to provide solutions to customers.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of distributor network.
  • Maintain up to date records via Company’s CRM system.

Qualifications and Skills

  • PhD. level education in a related discipline (biology or chemistry), ideally with experience in any or all of the following:
    • targeted protein degradation, (DUBs / PROTACs)
    • ubiquitin system biology
    • other enzyme based targets background (e.g. Kinases)
    • early stage small molecule Drug Discovery
  • 5-10 years business development experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or CRO environment
  • Demonstrated track record of revenue growth
  • Seasoned negotiator
  • Flexible and strategic approach
  • Highly customer/partner focused
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Able to travel as required
